Arabic and English: what to test
Every vendor says they support Arabic. What you need to know is how well they support your callers’ Arabic.
- The greeting. A good agent greets once, so the caller never has to choose.
- Language detection. Speak Arabic, then English, then switch mid-sentence.
- Dialect. Ask a colleague who speaks your callers’ dialect to make the test calls.
- Names and numbers. Check that the agent reads them back correctly.
On the call: eight things to listen for
Put the demo aside and call the agent yourself. Eight things separate a useful agent from a frustrating one.
- It answers the question asked. It does not go off on a script.
- It stays inside your knowledge. When it does not know, it says so.
- It lets the caller interrupt. It should stop, listen and carry on.
- It handles a pause. A caller looking for an order number is not cut off.
Test-call script and vendor scorecard
| # | The call | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Call in Arabic and ask for your opening hours. | Answer is correct; no language menu. |
| 2 | Call in English and ask the same question. | Same answer, in English. |
| 3 | Start in Arabic, switch to English mid-call. | The agent follows without asking. |
| 4 | Say a phone number, a date and an order reference. | All three read back correctly. |
